Chloé began as one of the first luxury prêt-a-porter fashion lines in 1952, created by Gaby Aghion in Paris. Gaby focused on soft feminine appeal with fabrics that were simple, luxurious and body conscious; very different from stiff styles of the times. While Gaby felt her own name would not suit the line, she decided to use the name of a friend, Chloé, which she felt was warm and better suited her collection.
